Integrated Detailed Forest Management Plan
Under the authority of Forest Management Agreement (FMA) 0200040 (O.C. 281/2002), Tolko Industries Ltd. (High Level Lumber Division) and Footner Forest Products Ltd. (FFP) shall submit a new Detailed Forest Management Plan (DFMP) for Forest Management Unit (FMU) F26 to the Alberta government for approval by September 11th 2007. At the request of the companies the submission date for the Detailed Forest Management Plan has been revised by Alberta-Sustainable Resource Development to October 31, 2010, effective July 15, 2008.
To help provide direction for plan development, Alberta has developed the Alberta Forest Management Planning Standard1(2.29MB PDF) which outlines the requirements for the development, submission, implementation, and monitoring of Detailed Forest Management Plans in the province of Alberta. In developing the standard, Alberta has adopted the CAN/CSA-Z809:02 Sustainable Forest Management: Requirements and Guidance Document as the forest management planning system.

For Tolko Industries Ltd. (HLLD) and Footner Forest Products Ltd. (FFP), the CAN/CSA Z809:02 standard has been previously applied in the development of the Sustainable Forest Management Plan, a plan which was developed with input from a number of stakeholders, First Nations, and the general public during our Forest Certification initiative to the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) forest certification standard.
One of the requirements of the CSA Z809:02 forest certification standard, which is reflected in the Alberta Forest Management Planning Standard, are the Sustainable Forest Management (SFM) Performance Requirements which are illustrated in the form of Values, Objectives, Indicators, and Targets (VOIT's). Although Alberta has a number of mandatory VOIT's which shall be measured and reported in detail in each DFMP, there remains the opportunity to localize individual targets and identify additional Values, Objectives, Indicators, and Targets through the implementation of the public advisory process.
The mandatory VOIT's, as well as any additional VOIT's identified through previous planning process(s) or the implementation of the public advisory process, is outlined below and will be updated as input is received from stakeholders and members of the general public.
1 - The Alberta Forest Management Planning Standard has been approved by Alberta effective May 1st 2006
