ISO14001:1996
The International Organization for Standardization
(ISO) is the world's largest developer of standards.
One of the standards that ISO has developed, the
ISO14001 standard, is primarily concerned with environmental management
systems and can be implemented in any type of industry or organization.
The ISO standard identifies protocols that an organization
shall implement to minimize harmful effects on the environment
caused by its activities and continually improve its environmental
performance.
Tolko Industries Ltd. (High Level Lumber Division) implemented
its Environmental Management System (EMS) on January 1st 2003.
Following the completion of a series of internal
audits, our division successfully completed a formal audit of
our EMS by independent third-party auditors in January 2004 and
received our certificate of registration to the ISO14001:1996
standard on February 6th, 2004.
The scope of our certificate of registration
applies to our forest management activities related to the Forest
Management Agreement (FMA) area, coniferous timber quotas, and
incidental timber harvesting.
As of July 18, 2008, Footner Forest Products Ltd., is not certified to the ISO14001 standard due to discontinued Woodlands Operations. Future certification will be dependent on active operations and an established Environmental Management System.
